Job Description
Project - the aim you'll have
We're looking for a Test Automation Lead / Senior SDET to own test automation for a greenfield enterprise platform replacing more than fifteen legacy applications for a US-based client. The stack is .NET 10 end to end: Blazor (MudBlazor), a MAUI Blazor Hybrid mobile app, and Azure DevOps for delivery, multi-tenant with row-level security. There is no automated test suite today. You are expected to build it, and to transfer the practice to an existing manual QA team. You report to the Head of QA and hold technical authority on automation.
What you will do
- Own test automation end to end, building a black-box, system-level suite from an empty repository, exercising the platform through the browser and over HTTP.
- Define the standards: locator and naming conventions, page object patterns, test data strategy, review criteria, and flaky test policy.
- Build the framework in C# using Playwright's .NET bindings.
- Integrate quality gates into the CI/CD pipeline: pull request gates, release gates, and test result reporting in Azure DevOps.
- Verify AI-generated output independently, as the check on the application code and unit tests the development team's agents produce.
- Cover tenant isolation and the mobile surface (MAUI Blazor Hybrid).
- Mentor the QA organization, transferring Playwright fundamentals and automation practice to an existing manual QA team.
Qualifications
Expectations - the experience you need
- +90% English written and oral (C1 level) with excellent communication skills.
- 2+ years of hands-on Playwright in production. TypeScript experience fully qualifies, since the browser API, locators, auto-waiting, and assertions are near-identical across bindings.
- C# fluency. You read and debug C# confidently and can write integration tests against .NET services.
- Demonstrated ownership of an automation framework, including its standards and controls — built from an empty repository or materially improved.
- Hands-on CI/CD pipeline authoring: pipeline definition as code, test result publishing, gate configuration, and troubleshooting of pipeline failures.
- Daily use of an agentic AI coding tool, run against a repository as part of normal work.
- Ability to articulate AI failure modes in generated tests: assertions that pass regardless of application logic, fabricated selectors or API methods, mocking that verifies the mock rather than the behavior, hardcoded environment values.
- A track record of raising the capability of other testers, through training, mentoring, or upskilling colleagues onto automation or new tooling.
- Availability 09:00 to 17:00 US Eastern Time daily, with evening flexibility for releases and high-priority incidents.
Nice to have
- Playwright .NET bindings specifically, rather than TypeScript or another binding.
- Blazor testing experience, including selector stability against component libraries such as MudBlazor.
- Multi-tenant testing, tenant isolation verification, or row-level security validation.
