Job Description
The Survey Party Chief will lead the field survey crew and be responsible for the organization, efficiency, and accuracy of work performed and data obtained. The purpose of the Party Chief position is to manage Surveyors and effectively, efficiently and safely carry out duties as assigned.
- Oversees the development and execution of construction, right-of-way, control, topographic, and/or other related survey duties
- Collaborates with stakeholders, including local officials, engineers, contractors, and supervisors, during the planning phase of a project
- Determines appropriate surveying techniques to be used on each project
- Collaborates with utility companies to ensure surveys are properly executed for public streets/easements
- Gathers survey data using global positioning systems (GPS) and other surveying tools to map areas and measure angles, distances, and elevations
- Analyzes plans, plats, and legal documents to appropriately plan and schedule work
- Defines boundaries for property and rights of way
- Drafts reports, descriptions, and other documentation for all surveys performed
- Ensures final maps display a comprehensive and accurate description of the field survey
- Ensures the work of all crew members meets standards and that assigned tasks are completed timely
- Completes any surveying tasks crew members are unable to complete
- Accurately complete administrative forms and reports in a timely fashion
- Adhere to all rules, regulations, and procedures, including those necessary to maintain required licenses, certifications, and/or registrations
- Attend meetings requested by supervisor and communicate effectively
- Carry out job functions with or without supervision and apply common sense instructions

Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience/Training: Considerable knowledge, typically gained from three (3) or more years experience/training in Surveying
MINIMUM ABILITY TO SAFELY USE AND OPERATE THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT: Equipment typically associated with this position within thirty (30) days
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS: Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License
