Job Description

The Field Operations Project Manager will oversee and coordinate construction materials testing and special inspection services for multiple projects within assigned territories. This role requires strong technical knowledge, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage field personnel while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee field testing and inspection activities across multiple construction sites
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of services
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal teams
  • Prepare project scope of work and cost estimates for specialty work when needed
  • Monitor project profitability and implement corrective actions when necessary

Technical Oversight

  • Ensure testing and inspection services comply with applicable codes, standards, and specifications (ACI, ASTM, IBC, etc.)
  • Review technical reports prepared by field technicians and inspectors
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field personnel
  • Conduct quality control reviews of field operations and testing procedures
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues or non-conformances

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate field technicians and inspectors
  • Coordinate staffing assignments and maintain adequate coverage across all active projects
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and professional excellence

Client Relations

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Address client concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and business development
  • Participate in client meetings, pre-construction conferences, and project closeouts

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Complete all duties as assigned by your manager

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in construction materials testing and special inspections
  • At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or project management role

Certifications

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I (required)
  • ICC Special Inspector certifications (Structural Steel, Concrete, Masonry) preferred
  • NICET certification in Construction Materials Testing or related discipline preferred
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Technical Skills

  • Thorough understanding of construction materials, testing procedures, and quality control principles
  • Proficiency in relevant codes and standards (IBC, ACI 318, ASTM, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of concrete, soils, asphalt, structural steel, and masonry testing
  • Experience Microsoft Office

  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or emergency calls as needed
  • Physical requirements include walking construction sites, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds
