Societe Generale is offering a paid 4-week work experience this summer to school leavers. This programme aims to equip the next generation of diverse talent with the skills needed to build a successful career and make a positive impact on society.
You will be placed with one of our teams, working on real projects and contributing to department objectives. A variety of teams are available including HR, Communications, IT, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Audit, Finance, Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, and Research.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
During the programme you will discover the world of banking and develop your skills through a series of workshops. You will:
- Join a team and play an active role assisting with their day-to-day work, attending any internal and external meetings and contributing to projects and ad hoc requests as directed.
- Shadow staff, sit in on meetings and complete e-learning modules to develop an understanding of the work undertaken by your team.
- Attend and participate in a range of training/networking & development opportunities.
- Participate in a group project to support our charity partner.
You will need:
- An interest and curiosity in the wide range of careers available within the financial services industry
- Good numerical and literacy skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- To be an active team player
- To act professionally, demonstrating honesty and integrity
- To be reliable, able to complete tasks and follow matters through to completion, asking for help when needed.
- To be familiar with MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

The Recruitment Process:
- By Sunday 4th January: Application. Complete the online application form
- Throughout January: Online Assessments. Designed to assess your potential and check your values align to ours, they are situational judgement, behavioural and multitasking.
- Throughout January: Video interview. A one way video is your opportunity to show off who you are and your skills.
- Thursday 18th February: Engagement Day. An opportunity to showcase your skills and strengths through various assessments at the Bank. You will have the opportunity to work on a group project and meet hosting teams at SG through an interview.
Essential information:
- Working hours: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 hour for lunch
- Location: You will be based in One Bank Street, Canary Wharf, London, E14 4SG and if placements become available you could be based at 60 London Wall, London, EC2M 5TQ
- Business dress code: Smart casual
- Pay: London Living Wage £14.80 per hour
