The Head of Global Medical Publications is tasked with leading and mentoring a team of publications managers, ensuring their professional development and effective project execution. The Head is responsible for the coordination and standardisation of operational activities of systems, processes, policies, and frameworks that support the planning, execution, and governance of scientific and medical publications activities across the Therapeutic Areas. The Head collaborates with Global Medical Affairs and Clinical Development (MACD), regional partners and other relevant departments to execute and integrate publications operational needs and activities, and ensures adequate resourcing aligned to identified priorities. The Head remains updated on relevant regulations and industry standards related to publications, ensuring compliance in all activities. The Head is a member of the Medical Excellence and Operations Leadership Team, providing input to share best practices, drive a supportive and collaborative culture and enable achievement of organisational goals.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, lead, and coach a team of publication managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
- Oversee the planning, development, and execution of strategic publication plans across the Therapeutic Areas
- Provide guidance on governance and industry standards to foster effective and compliant publications execution
- Develop, coordinate, and standardise key operational processes and frameworks, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of publications activities
- Liaise with medical colleagues and other cross-functional/regional partners to enhance the value of medical and scientific publications, whilst demonstrating their impact to the wider organization and the external community
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD) and/or certification in scientific medical field (i.e., PharmD)
- 10+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry (e.g., Medical Affairs/Medical Publications/Scientific Communications)
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and their development
- Deep knowledge of the highest scientific and ethical standards, enabling working in accordance with applicable rules and regulations
- Fluency in English
- Other European languages a bonus
