Job Description
Sobi is seeking a passionate, highly collaborative and strategic leader to serve as an Area Business Director, covering half of the US Market within the Immunology Franchise, specifically focusing on the launch of a therapy for a severe, rare form of gout (chronic refractory gout). This leader will be responsible for building, leading, and inspiring a high-performing team of Regional Business Directors (RBD) and their direct reports who will play a critical role in driving revenue growth and improving the overall commercial success of immunology franchise products. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including strategic accounts, marketing, market access, medical affairs, and others to ensure alignment with business goals and maximize product performance and patient impact. The ideal candidate will lead with Sobi values and inspire ownership, accountability, teamwork, and engagement within the entire team.
This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in the Western United States and be in close proximity to an airport. This role involves up to 70% travel.
Scope of the job:
Including, but not limited to the following Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for the rheumatology focused therapies within the Immunology portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and prioritizing sustainable growth through effective planning and implementation across field teams.
- Build, lead and develop a team of high-performing Regional Business Directors and their direct reports by modeling Sobi’s leadership principles, clarifying roles, responsibilities, and decision-making boundaries to enhance team accountability, collaboration and performance.
- Drive market growth by conducting and overseeing routine business planning and optimizing field execution.
- Provide strong leadership and strategic oversight for sales strategies and execution in targeting key accounts and prioritized HCP segments, ensuring alignment between regional sales teams and ecosystem field teams.
- Lead business reviews to identify emerging market trends, uncover business opportunities, and assess competitive dynamics to inform strategy and enhance commercial performance.
- Collaborate across functions, partnering with Marketing, Strategic Accounts, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Finance, Regulatory, and Legal and Compliance to align on strategic initiatives and overcome challenges.
- Optimize performance, defining and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate commercial effectiveness, drive resource optimization, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to teams.
- Empower teams to succeed, proactively anticipating and addressing obstacles to enable teams to deliver results. Foster an environment of trust and collaboration to support decisive and effective actions.
- Ensure compliance and ethical standards, overseeing that all commercial activities comply with global and local regulatory guidelines, compliance, industry standards, ethical codes, and SObi policies.
- Demonstrated understanding and record of activity in line with key laws and regulations impacting the pharmaceutical industry, including but not limited to PhRMA Code, HIPAA, and Anti-Kickback Statute.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree (MBA or related field) preferred.
- At least 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, significant experience in commercial leadership roles within rheumatology, nephrology, rare disease, or other specialized therapeutic areas.
- Minimum of 3+ years of second-line sales leadership experience
- Proven track record in driving commercial strategy and executing successful product launches in team selling environments, preferably within rheumatology, immunology, or related fields.
Skills and Competencies:
- Deep understanding of the rheumatology and biologics market, including disease pathology, patient needs, and key market dynamics including the buy-and-bill process.
- Proven track record of effectively communicating strategy, plans, and key insights to senior leadership, ensuring alignment, buy-in, and actionable decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive business plans based on market insights, competitive analysis, and data-driven strategies to drive measurable results.
- Expertise in market access, sales strategy, and promotional campaigns, with a proven ability to optimize commercial outcomes across product launch phases and life cycles.
- Proven ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing, agile and diverse teams while navigating complex changes such as product launches, restructures, and evolving market conditions.
- Ability to lead effectively in matrixed environments, align cross-functional teams, and influence without direct authority to achieve organizational objectives.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation, coupled with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to craft and deliver impactful presentations to executive leadership and diverse stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 70% as required by the role.
The base salary pay range for this role is $214,000-$280,000 annually. Actual pay for this position will take into account factors such as experience and location. In addition to a base salary, this position is also eligible for a competitive 401k match, short and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD and life insurance benefits, in addition to other health and wellness programs and offerings.
