Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Material Master SME is responsible for the governance, quality, and lifecycle management of Material Master and related manufacturing master data across SAP environments. The role serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Material Master, Bill of Materials (BOM), Routings, Engineering Change Management (ECN/ECM), and associated product data processes.
The position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, Finance, and IT teams to ensure accurate, controlled, and compliant master data that supports operational efficiency and business growth.
Duties:
- Product & Manufacturing Master Data Leadership
- Act as the enterprise SME for Material Master, BOM, Routing, Production Versions, Work Centers, Engineering Change Management (ECM), and related manufacturing master data processes.
- Own and govern the end-to-end lifecycle of Product Master Data from new product introduction (NPI) through engineering changes, production, service, and end-of-life management.
- Define enterprise-wide standards, controls, governance policies, and best practices for Material Master and manufacturing-related master data.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex master data, engineering, and manufacturing issues impacting global operations.

Qualifications
Qualification:
Diploma / Any Degree / Post-Graduation
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in SAP Master Data Management within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong experience in SAP Material Master Management and governance.
- Good working knowledge of:
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Routings
- Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
- Engineering Change Management (ECM)
- Change Numbers
- Material Revisions
- Production Versions
Professional competencies
- Strong understanding of SAP MM and integration with PP, Procurement, Inventory Management, and Supply Chain processes.
- Experience in master data governance, standardization, data quality management, and lifecycle management.
- Experience supporting SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA implementations, migrations, and data conversion activities.
- Exposure to SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM/PM), including Equipment Master, Functional Locations, Maintenance BOMs, Task Lists, and maintenance master data governance, would be an added advantage.
- Experience with SAP MDG, PLM integrations, Power BI, SQL, or data migration tools is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to probe data, identify root causes, and translate findings into actionable insights.
