Job Description

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for coordinating and expediting the delivery of supplies (raw materials, components and services) to the manufacturing facility, monitoring inventory levels, assessing vendors and ensuring that delivered supplies meet the John Crane’s quality standards and the local and/or international regulations.

Collaborate with Purchasing and Project Managers maintaining delivery schedules for ongoing projects, communicating with suppliers to determine expected delivery dates, verifying for updates on delivery timelines, preventing possible delays that can affect the project delivery and informing of potential delays.

Maintain a clear and open line of interdepartmental communication for improved coordination of productive operations, delivering seamless strategies to meet supplies delivery targets ensuring the timely accomplishment of projects.

Compile, record and report vendors performance and delivery progress to management and key stakeholders, monitoring the flow of work from supply procurement to actual product deliveries, identifying process gaps and consulting with management to determine solutions.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials from vendors, ensuring the timely completion of production orders.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and adjust with vendors as necessary to meet changing demands and prioritize urgent orders.
  • Track and manage inventory levels, ensuring that materials and supplies are available when needed, minimizing production delays and/or high stock levels.
  • Collaborate with production planners, supervisors, and other stakeholders to plan and schedule activities, communicating delivery status, delays, and other issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Identify bottlenecks or potential delays in the delivery process and propose solutions to improve efficiency and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date reports.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures to maximize deliveries and minimize delays.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education/Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional certification or training in production planning or supply chain management is considered a plus.

Experience:            

  • 6 years proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proficient in using ERP systems / MRP / SAP.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, including production scheduling, inventory control, and quality assurance. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement concepts are considered as a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address issues and make timely decisions to meet production deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and practices to ensure compliance and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy to ensure the quality and integrity of production processes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and demands.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and coordination between different departments.

Knowledge/Skills:  

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers/vendors or employees of any external organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain project and delivery schedule, helping to prioritize projects based on deadlines.
  • Ability to make progress reports, facilitating implementation of need-based solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in using procurement software and tools to streamline processes and manage data effectively.
  • Problem-solving skills to address issues and find creative solutions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Proactive and result-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to procurement.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.           

Languages:

  • Fluent Italian and English required, written and spoken.

A third language is considered as a plus.

Citizenship or PR holder

  • Italian
