Company Description

In light of Brexit, this is a great opportunity for a customs specialist to play a key role in the development and implementation of customs policies and controls with a global retailer to ensure Skechers USA Ltd. is fully compliant with all HMRC customs requirements and administration. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate and develop Skechers import and export processes and policies, work closely with stakeholders and be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payments of duties and tariffs. A key function of the role will relate to the management and operation of duty optimisation programs, such as Customs Warehousing.

Job Description

  • Coordinate and develop Skechers import and export processes and policies
  • Offer up to date and relevant advice to the business’ stakeholders
  • Manage customs clearing agents and their overall cost
  • Manage duty deferment account and duty management system
  • Define approach and ensure keeping accurate records of cleared items and ensure proper documentations (electronic and hard copies) are retained
  • Manage master data for accuracy of key customs data elements, such as customs values, origin and tariff classification
  • Support with any post-entry amendment requests and/or HMRC audit enquiries
  • Review MSS data against company records to ensure accuracy of data held by HMRC
  • Direct liaison with role associated authorities, businesses and professional institutions
  • It is also an exciting opportunity to play a lead part in the Brexit strategy across the wider business network

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will be an experienced Customs Manager with experience and in-depth knowledge of customs processes, procedures and regulations (minimum 4 years required)
  • Knowledge of modern customs filing software (preferably Descartes)
  • Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Reliable operational execution
  • Bonded warehouse experience will be advantagous
