Job Description

Summary of Position

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and reliability of facility infrastructure, utilities, chemical delivery systems, process gas systems, building systems, and support equipment. This position supervises Facilities Technicians, coordinates maintenance activities, manages contractors, and ensures facility systems operate safely and efficiently to support production objectives. This position places particular emphasis on the safe operation and maintenance of chemical handling systems, hazardous material storage areas, process gas distribution systems, water treatment equipment, and utility infrastructure critical to manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct facility inspections, coordinate maintenance requests, and oversee daily facilities operations. 
  • Supervise Facilities Technicians and contractors, assigning and prioritizing work based on production and facility needs, and ensure employees follow applicable LOTO, confined space, electrical safety, chemical handling, hot work, and other safe-work practices.
  • Support troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of facility infrastructure, utilities, and building systems. 
  • Ensure safe operation, maintenance, and reliability of chemical delivery, process gas, water treatment, wastewater, compressed air, HVAC, and related utility systems. 
  • Coordinate chemical and process gas deliveries and maintain inventories of facility supplies, tools, chemicals, gases, and consumable materials. 
  • Perform routine inspections of chemical storage, containment, and distribution systems to ensure compliance and reliability. 
  • Support environmental, health, and safety programs, including hazardous materials management, spill prevention, emergency response equipment, and regulatory compliance. 
  • Work with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies to complete maintenance activities and facility projects. Ensure contractors comply with site safety requirements, permitting procedures, PPE requirements, and facility policies.
  • Maintain maintenance records, inspections, permits, SDS documentation, and compliance-related records. 
  • Participate in chemical spill response, utility emergencies, equipment failures, evacuations, and other emergency response activities as required.
  • Assist with the training and development of Facilities Technicians in technical skills, safety procedures, troubleshooting, and facility system operations.
  • Coordinate facility construction, renovation, equipment installation, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Communicate facility outages, repairs, project activities, and potential production impacts to appropriate stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including occasional off-hours support. 

 

Qualifications

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong leadership, organization, and time-management capabilities. 
  • Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills involving chemical, mechanical, electrical, controls, and utility systems. 
  • Working Knowledge of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, water treatment systems, chemical delivery systems, air compressors, process gas distribution systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of facility maintenance, utilities, chemical processing, or industrial maintenance experience. 
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. 
  • Strong background in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, PLC, and pneumatic systems. 
  • Experience supporting chemical process systems and hazardous material operations in a manufacturing environment. 
  • HAZWOPER Training (24-hour minimum) preferred. 
  • Preferred Qualifications  
  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Management, or related field. 
  • Military technical training or equivalent industrial experience. 
  • Experience in solar, semiconductor, battery, chemical processing, or advanced manufacturing environments. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and hazardous material compliance requirements.
