Job Description

Summary of Position 

The Quality Technician II is responsible for ensuring the overall quality and compliance of products or services within a company. This position is typically a more advanced role than Quality Technician I, requiring a higher level of expertise and experience in quality control and assurance processes. This position is for Pitman Night shift, a rotating 12-hour shift that runs 6pm-6am.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Inspecting output samples using industry-appropriate methods 
  • Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complying with legal requirements 
  • Reviewing blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods 
  • Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database 
  • Training the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence 
  • Proposing improvements to the production process 
  • Monitoring the use of equipment to ensure it is safe and discard any that do not meet standards 
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and radiographs 
  • Perform testing at various stages on the manufacturing line 
  • Collecting and compiling statistical quality data 
  • Assisting in the development of test methods and inspection plans 
  • Determining the root causes of product defects and scrap 
  • Verifying all equipment is calibrated correctly 
  • Perform quality controls following the Work Instructions (WI’s) on raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products. 
  • Suggest improvements of the WI’s in order to reduce scraps and improve the performance of the finished product. 
  • Improve the capacity for in-depth analysis and improvement of the process. 
  • Continually support the Production staff on WI’s, quality and process issues in cooperation with Management. 
  • Create statistical analysis and reports on the quality of raw materials and finished product as required.  
  • Utilize and maintain the supplied instruments of measurement according to WI and safety standards. 
  • Monitor and suggest improvements to Management on the production recipes for the various steps of the process. 
  • Monitor and audit operations, suggesting improvements to the tools of quality control used in the production line 
  • Provide hourly reports to management via email 

Qualifications

Skills  

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision yet knows when to ask for help. 
  • Proven proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office and Excel programs, and statistical software packages. 
  • Excellent understanding of problem-solving techniques. 
  • Works well within a team environment. 
  • Works well independently, and within a team environment.

Education and/or Experience  

  • Manufacturing experience in a technical role 
  • Previous PV module manufacturing experience, preferred.  

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds independently and participate in team lifts of approximately 60 pounds as required for essential production tasks.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position or move throughout the production floor for extended periods (for the duration of the shift up to 8+ hours per shift).
  • Must be able to operate, position, adjust, or move equipment, tools, or materials necessary for production processes.
  • Capable of performing consistent, manual production tasks over long shifts.
  • Must be able to work in typical manufacturing environmental conditions, including areas requiring PPE, exposure to noise, and temperature variation.
