Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic results driven Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice to join our Building Finishing Haines City team.

The Apprentice works under the direction of Maintenance Leadership and experienced Maintenance Mechanics to develop the technical skills, safety discipline, and equipment ownership required to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations.
This role supports Sika's commitment to safety, quality, environmental responsibility, operational excellence, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement. Comply with all Sika Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and site requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and immediate reporting of unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents.

  • Participate in safety meetings, inspections, required EHS training, and maintain 5S housekeeping standards in assigned production and maintenance areas.
  • Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance activities, including routine equipment inspections, condition monitoring, and proper lubrication and adjustment practices under supervision.
  • Support equipment installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair activities, including replacement of bearings, belts, rollers, chains, motors, sensors, and mechanical components.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, work orders, and inspection logs while communicating equipment issues clearly to Production and Maintenance Leadership.
  • Support production requirements, equipment changeovers, startup checks, sanitation, and production readiness activities as business needs require.
  • Support root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance.

 

Qualifications

**Education**

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Technical school certificate or industrial maintenance coursework

**Experience**

  • Manufacturing experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments

**Technical Competencies**

  • Mechanical systems: bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and motors
  • Electrical fundamentals: sensors, relays, contactors, and VFD basics
  • Maintenance systems: Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), and CMMS/SAP documentation
