Job Description
Sika is looking for a Mixer Operator to join its growing team in Mattawan, MI. The Operator is responsible for the timely execution of daily production requirements, achieving safety, housekeeping, quality, and rate objectives and participating in continuous improvement activities as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow all Safety, Health, Environmental (EHS), and ISO procedures
- Accurately follow batching and process orders from start to finish
- Operate mixers, pumps, PLCs, recipe systems, and tinting equipment
- Add raw materials in correct quantities at designated times
- Monitor temperatures, chemical reactions, and batch quality
- Record batch data and provide documentation to shift leadership
- Take and document samples at required intervals
- Troubleshoot process or equipment issues and take corrective action
- Communicate with fellow operators and maintenance as needed
- Package finished materials after quality approval
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including mixers and pigment pump areas
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly; occasional lifting up to 80–90 lbs
- Push/pull 100–150 lbs
- Ability to bend, lift, climb, and work in confined spaces
- Comfortable working with chemicals
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery
- Ability to work independently and stay organized
- Strong attention to detail and ability to plan ahead
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Must be able to operate a forklift and other equipment as trained
