Job Description
Sheladia Associates is seeking a professional Gender and Social Inclusion Manager to join our team for upcoming Malawi road supervision project funded by Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). In this crucial role, you will serve as the primary team member responsible for ensuring effective focus on women and marginalized groups in all project construction activities.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise team to ensure integration of women and marginalized issues in all project construction activities.
- Advise on gender, sex, and sexuality-related questions and issues.
- Educate and train staff on gender-sensitive approaches.
- Prepare and review policies and procedures for gender inclusion.
- Identify power imbalances and research marginalized groups’ needs, interests, and vulnerabilities.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure women and socially excluded groups benefit from the project.
- Assist in balancing conservation efforts with socio-economic needs of marginalized, resource-dependent communities.
- Design and deliver capacity-building training for staff, government partners, and sub-grantees on gender-sensitive activities.
- Collaborate with project personnel, government, gender work groups, and community groups to engage men and boys in supporting women and marginalized leadership.
- Build the capacity of national experts through on-site training and daily project management.
- Review designs and Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) to integrate gender and social issues.
- Conduct regular site inspections and review Contractors’ Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).
- Ensure effective implementation of MCC’s Counter Trafficking in Persons (CTIP) policy and Contractors' compliance with CTIP and Sexual Harassment prevention.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Science or other relevant discipline.
- 10 years of experience in gender and social inclusion for development projects.
- Demonstrated experience in community facilitation, such as grievance management processes involving vulnerable social groups and women.
- Experience with the design and implementation of project activities that counter trafficking in persons and sexual harassment.
- Fluent in English.
