Job Description

Segula Technologies is seeking an experienced Design Release Engineer to lead the development, validation, and release of battery structural components for advanced electrified vehicle programs. You will own components from concept through serial life, ensuring they meet structural, thermal, durability, safety, and manufacturability requirements. 

This role is ideal for and engineer experienced in battery enclosures, underbody structures, thermal/structural interfaces, module integration, or high-voltage component mounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, validation, release of battery structural components and related hardware
  • Manage engineering changes and deliverables (3D models, drawings, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, BOMs)  
  • Ensure components meet requirements for crash, NVH, durability, stiffness, sealing, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
  • Drive cross-functional packaging, integration, and interface alignment for battery structural systems.
  • Support prototype builds, resolve issues, perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions.
  • Work with suppliers on feasibility, tooling readiness, timing, quality concerns, design improvements
  • Review and interpret validation results and implement data-driven design updates.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure DFM/DFA compliance and resolve build or plant issues.
  • Track program deliverables, risks, and timing, and communicate updates to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, related field (ABET accredited).
  • 5+ years of experience in the design, development, release of battery structural components or underbody/chassis structures.
  • Understanding of EV structural performance (NVH, crash, durability, stiffness, thermal interactions.)
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (CATIA or similar) and experience with PLM/PDM release systems. 
  • Experienced with prototype builds, issue resolution, root cause analysis, supplier technical alignment.
  • Familiarity with validation plans, test requirements, and interpreting structural test data.
  • Hands-on experience resolving engineering issues during late-stage development or serial life.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, CAE correlation, and virtual/physical validation methods.
