Job Description
Segula Technologies is hiring a Station Designer to develop and optimize workstation layouts for a major automotive assembly program. This role focuses on ergonomic design, tooling integration, and production efficiency—ensuring all assembly stations meet safety, quality, and launch readiness standards in collaboration with Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain 2D and 3D workstation layouts using AutoCAD or Microstation in alignment with production flow and plant constraints.
- Design and specify fixtures, jigs, tooling, and assembly aids that support quality, ergonomics, and manufacturability.
- Coordinate data required for ergonomic assessments and reach studies using tools such as ErgoMan or Process Simulate Human to verify operator comfort and safety.
- Collaborate with Launch Industrial Engineers to balance line workloads and confirm station cycle times meet takt targets.
- Ensure tooling and equipment integration within each station aligns with overall line layout and material flow strategy.
- Participate in pilot builds and process validation to verify layout accuracy and resolve design-related issues
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Support updates to PFMEA documentation, work instructions, and tooling layouts as changes are implemented.
- Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on ergonomics, productivity, and space utilization.
- Maintain accurate station documentation, drawing revisions, and design change logs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience) or Manufacturing Technology
- 3–5 years of experience in automotive, heavy equipment or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of ergonomics, station design, lean manufacturing, and tooling integration.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and standardized work practices.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to manage multiple design projects in a dynamic launch environment.
- Experience supporting vehicle assembly line design or new model launch.
- Experience with PFMEA, DFMEA, and GD&T.
- Understanding of automation, robotics, or material handling systems used in modern assembly operations.
- Familiarity with time study and line balancing methods (MTM, MOST, or MODAPTS).
