Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide technical support and expertise in the design, procurement, and installation of tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for the production of heavy trucks.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a technical liaison between tool manufacturers, tooling vendors, in-house maintenance repair personnel and industrial engineers.
  • Provide problem-solving expertise for tooling issues to the production operators, supervisors, quality department and management.
  • Design and procure tooling as required, such as tables, benches, racks, fixtures, pneumatic and hydraulic devices.
  • Provide design support for tools and fixtures and work closely with product engineering methods lab, purchasing, maintenance, and industrial engineers to assure optimum tools are provided to enhance the production operation.
  • Provide resource information to support tooling related capital investment requests as required.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, prototype assemblies, and assembly methods to determine tooling requirements.
  • Participate in design review meetings as they apply to tooling requirements.
  • Provide input to tooling and fixturing improvements by the implementation of capital improvements, process revisions and efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of relevant industry experience from Automotive or related industry.
  • Ability to travel to Mexico on occasion. Ability to work on site at NRV Virginia on occasion.
  • Skilled in mechanical design (machine construction/design)
  • Catia V5 competence.
  • Creo competence.
  • Skilled in using PDMlink.
  • Auto cad competence.
  • Creating Scope of supply (according to std documentation)
  • Able to cooperate in different teams but also able to work independently.
  • Supporting SD&I in development of RFQ,s.
  • English language.
  • (Spanish language)
