Job Description

As a Support Engineer, you will assist a team of product design and production engineers with various engineering tasks. Your duties will include creating and maintaining drawings, work instructions, product and material specifications, installation and assembly instructions, diagrams, production jigs and fixtures, and other related items. You will also help manage all design documentation for both new and existing product designs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare documentation including detailed product assembly and part drawings, assembly instructions, installation instructions, bills of materials, product and material specifications, wiring diagrams and other associated items.
  • Work closely within the departments to ensure that technical information about products is recorded clearly & accurately.
  • Demonstrated approach to documentation, engineering administration, clear thinking and problem solving.
  • Ongoing development, update and coordination of technical and engineering data.
  • Maintain and update CAD components 3D models.
  • Complete assigned tasks within required time frames
  • Assist in administering Engineering Changes and concessions
  • Allocation of document and drawing numbers including version control
  • Ensure CAD data and associated drawings, data and documents are stored in correct file locations on the server
  • Provide technical inputs to component and materials selection
  • Assemble and test protypes and pre-production samples
  • Work with production and assist in optimising production assembly processes
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product assembly requirements
  • Design and develop test jigs and fixtures for product assembly to assure product and process quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (BE Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering, or similar)
  • Prior experience working in a mechanical engineering role or in the lighting industry

Required

  • Skilled in CAD design tools such as Solidworks, NX or similar
  • Skilled in drafting/technical drawing
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and tool design
  • Commitment to quality, health and safety standards and environmental regulations
