Job Description
As an Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing the field force in Ukraine, ensuring effective execution of Santen’s commercial strategy and high-quality engagement with healthcare professionals. You will oversee territory planning, team performance, market analysis and customer engagement, while supporting the implementation of marketing and sales initiatives in line with company strategy, policies and SOPs.
The role combines people management, sales force effectiveness, market development and cross-functional collaboration, with a strong focus on developing the capabilities of the field team and driving high standards of execution across the assigned territory, including business travel.
What you will do
Lead, manage and develop the field force within the assigned territory.
Plan and coordinate the activities of Medical Representatives, including individual objectives, territory plans and regular performance reviews.
Monitor and continuously improve the knowledge and skills of Medical Representatives, particularly in their engagement with healthcare professionals.
Provide coaching, training and ongoing development to the field team in line with company standards and SOPs.
Analyse the Ukrainian pharmaceutical market, including market trends, demand, competition, pricing and opportunities for business development.
Monitor product availability, market penetration and the effectiveness of the company’s pricing and commercial strategies.
Contribute to the development and implementation of short-, medium- and long-term marketing and sales strategies.
Prepare and manage monthly activity plans and ensure accurate and timely reporting from the field force.
Analyse sales, market and customer data to identify opportunities and support commercial decision-making.
Develop recommendations to improve product presence and availability in pharmacies and pharmacy chains.
Monitor and analyse hospital business and tender opportunities within the assigned territory.
Plan, initiate and coordinate medical events, meetings, trainings and other activities with healthcare professionals in accordance with company procedures.
Build and maintain strong relationships with leading healthcare professionals and other key stakeholders.
Work closely with Marketing, Medical, Market Access and other internal functions to support product promotion and commercial initiatives.
Provide market insights and recommendations to the Country Manager and relevant stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, internal procedures and applicable Ukrainian legislation.
Take responsibility for the effective use of company resources and maintain company-provided equipment and vehicle appropriately.

- Competitive Salary: A market‑aligned base salary starting from UAH 983.996 - UAH 1.352.995, depending on experience and location.
Qualifications
- Higher education in Medicine, Pharmacy, Business Management or Marketing.
- Minimum 2 years of similar experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including field force management, team development and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical market, marketing, market analysis and commercial strategy.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation and people-management skills.
- Strong coaching, analytical, planning and organisational skills, with experience managing projects and processes.
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
- Leadership mindset, growth mindset, fast learning, agility and discipline.
- Fluent Ukrainian; intermediate English is a plus.
- Valid driving licence and driving experience required.
