Job Description

The role focuses on the engineering, governance and continuous improvement of Santen’s Cloud and Connectivity platforms, ensuring they remain secure, stable, cost-efficient and aligned with the Azure roadmap, Microsoft Well-Architected Framework and Santen’s broader technology strategy.

This is a specialist, engineering-focused role with an emphasis on platform and technical improvements, guiding technology partners on technical implementations, and leading or contributing to infrastructure projects. Day-to-day operational activities remain with the Cloud and Networking partners, while the role focuses on maintaining overall environment health, providing technical guidance on incidents and changes, and ensuring adherence to DIT practices and procedures.

What You Will Do

  • Own and continuously improve Santen’s Azure Cloud and Connectivity platforms, aligned with the Azure roadmap, Microsoft Well-Architected Framework and Santen’s technology strategy.
  • Maintain and evolve the Azure landing zone, subscription structure, management groups and governance framework, while defining and enforcing global cloud engineering standards.
  • Manage and guide the global server and network estate, including lifecycle management, patching, decommissioning and the transition from on-premises to cloud-hosted workloads.
  • Act as the technical counterpart to Cloud and Connectivity partners, reviewing engineering outputs and change requests and ensuring implementations meet global IT standards.
  • Identify and drive improvements across optimisation, modernisation, automation and security by monitoring technology roadmaps, security advisories and partner developments.
  • Lead and contribute to infrastructure and technology projects, from opportunity assessment and business cases through implementation and transition into operations.
  • Provide technical expertise to IT and business application teams, translating business and technical requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Ensure strong platform governance and operational excellence through effective documentation, ITIL, change management, KPIs, SLAs and continuous improvement.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders across Infrastructure, Architecture, Security and Regional Operations, as well as external technology partners and suppliers.
  • Contribute to the Cloud and Connectivity strategy, roadmap and budget while ensuring compliance with Santen values, GxP requirements, SDLC procedures and relevant IT policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Systems Infrastructure and Cloud Networking, with strong expertise in SD-WAN, Cisco and Microsoft Azure.
  • Proven experience managing Azure and Networking environments in an outsourced model, aligned with Microsoft best practices and update cycles.
  • Proven experience delivering international and global infrastructure projects as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Azure, including landing zones, Azure Policy, networking, IaaS/PaaS governance and cost management.
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform, Bicep or equivalent, and CI/CD for infrastructure automation.
  • Solid enterprise networking expertise, including SD-WAN, BGP, WAN architecture, firewall policies and network segmentation.
  • Experience managing global server estates, cloud migrations and hybrid on-premises/cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to technically govern managed service partners, review engineering outputs and enforce standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Azure or Cisco certifications are desirable.
