Job Description
The Medical Representative acts as a brand ambassador for Santen, building strong relationships with ophthalmologists in clinics and selected practices. By clearly communicating the value of Santen products, the role drives new prescriber acquisition, increases prescription volume, and strengthens market presence in the assigned region. The Medical Representative represents Santen at conferences and is accountable for achieving regional targets.
What you will do:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with ophthalmologists, clinics, pharmacies, optical stores, retail and wholesale customers through regular, planned visits to drive prescription growth, sales performance, and market share within the assigned territory.
- Promote Santen products by delivering accurate scientific and commercial information, organizing and participating in local educational meetings, presentations, congresses, company events, and training programs.
- Achieve sales, distribution, and territory objectives by ensuring optimal product availability, visibility, stock levels, and executing promotional activities, including OTC promotional orders, annual agreements, and product sample distribution in line with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate customer records in Veeva CRM, prepare and submit timely sales, activity, expense, and territory reports, and keep daily and monthly plans and documentation up to date.
- Monitor customer payment terms and outstanding receivables, collaborate with the Line Manager on customer segmentation and commercial terms, and recommend actions to optimize territory performance.
- Collect, document, and promptly report adverse events, product complaints, and other safety information, supporting pharmacovigilance activities and complying with all applicable regulations, SOPs, and company policies.
- Continuously develop product, market, compliance, and sales knowledge by actively participating in mandatory training programs and applying best practices in all customer interactions.
Qualifications
What you will bring to the role
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Healthcare, Life Sciences, or a related field; qualified Pharmaceutical Representative or Natural Scientist.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales or a similar commercial role; experience in ophthalmology is an advantage.
- Comfortable working in a performance-driven environment with a strong focus on achieving business objectives.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with medical partners across varying levels of expertise.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Good command of Romanian and English (A2/B1 level or higher) to support internal communication.
- Good PC skills, including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, and a positive mindset toward using modern communication channels such as e-detailing and remote calls.
- Confident using technical equipment and digital tools, including iPad, laptop, iPhone, OCE, and CRM systems.
- Valid Category B driving licence.
- Demonstrates high ethical standards and a strong commitment to compliance with the Code of Conduct, company policies, and applicable local laws and regulations.
