This role focuses on hands-on engineering execution of migration patterns, platform components, and automation frameworks, with a strong emphasis on containerization and modern deployment models to enable scalable, repeatable migrations from on-premises environments to AWS.

You will partner with platform engineering, security, and external vendors to build, deploy, and operate cloud-native infrastructure and application platforms, with a focus on container-first deployment patterns and Kubernetes-based architectures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement and execute standardized migration patterns to AWS, including rehost, replatform, redeploy, refactor.
  • Design and operate an application migration factory focused on:
    • Automation pipelines
    • Runbooks and deployment frameworks
    • Cutover orchestration and execution
  • Build and implement tooling and automation frameworks to support high-scale migrations.
  • Drive adoption of container-first strategies, including VM-to-container migration and Kubernetes (EKS) deployments.
  • Define and implement technical deployment models, including:
    • VM rehosting and replatforming patterns
    • Containerized application deployment models
    • Kubernetes-based microservices architectures
  • Configure and deploy AWS infrastructure and platform services, including:
    • Compute, storage, and networking services such as VPCs, load balancers, and DNS
    • Databases and middleware platforms
    • Container platforms, container registries, and runtime environments, including EKS
  • Build and support CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation and containerized application deployment.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) modules and reusable deployment templates.
  • Integrate automation and scripting using Python and Bash to streamline provisioning, deployment, and operational workflows.
  • Coordinate with AWS specialists and partners to accelerate migration execution.
  • Execute data migration, cutover, validation, and post-migration stabilization activities.
  • Ensure implementations meet security, compliance, reliability, and cost optimization requirements.
  • Align implementations with enterprise guardrails, including IaC, policy-as-code, and standardized pipelines

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10–15+ years of total experience, including 7+ years in cloud engineering or migration roles
  • Deep hands-on expertise in AWS architecture and services (core requirement)
  • Proven experience with large-scale application migrations to AWS
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions, including building CI/CD pipelines for cloud and hybrid environments
  • Experience managing self-hosted CI/CD runners (GitHub Actions or similar) in both on-premises and cloud environments
  • Deep understanding of IAM, cross-account access, and identity federation (AWS IAM Identity Center, SSO)
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, logging, metrics, tracing) to support migration validation and post-migration troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with database and data migration strategies (replication, backup/restore, minimal downtime cutover)
  • Experience working within enterprise cloud landing zones and guardrails (SCPs, account structure, security controls)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in hybrid networking, including routing, DNS resolution, and connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments
  • Experience designing and managing multi-environment deployments (dev, test, prod) with proper isolation and promotion workflows
  • Experience working with enterprise artifact repositories (e.g., JFrog Artifactory) for dependency management, build artifacts, and secure package distribution
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and cloud providers
  • Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills

Preferred:

  • Understanding of cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices, including tagging strategies and cost visibility during migration
  • Experience with migration tooling, such as AWS Application Migration Service, DMS, or equivalent tools
  • Experience with GitOps deployment models, such as ArgoCD, and environment-based deployment strategies
  • AWS certifications, such as Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Kubernetes-related certifications
  • Experience working in large-scale transformation programs or Agile delivery models
