Since 1976, St. Joseph Center has been meeting the needs of low-income and homeless individuals and families in Venice, Santa Monica, Mar Vista, and surrounding communities. The Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization that assists people without regard for religious affiliation or lack thereof through comprehensive case management and integrated social service programs. The Center enjoys broad-based community support as well as a sponsored relationship with its founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. St. Joseph Center serves approximately 6,000 individuals annually.
Brief Description of Principal Activities
Multifaceted intervention, prevention, and education services are carried out at four sites on the Westside of Los Angeles. St. Joseph Center’s integrated programs provide clients with concentrated and coordinated access to services according to the nature of their needs.
Job Description
St. Joseph Center is seeking a temporary People + Culture Operations Specialist to provide hands-on support across core People + Culture operations. This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented HR professional who enjoys keeping processes moving, supporting employees, and ensuring information is accurate and complete.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate recruitment activities
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding administration
- Complete routine HRIS transactions, data updates, and data quality checks
- Maintain employee records and assist with documentation requests, audits, and compliance tracking
- Prepare routine P+C reports and trackers
- Monitor the P+C inbox, respond to basic employee questions, and route more complex matters appropriately
- Provide administrative and logistical support for learning and development programs
- Support other P+C operational projects as needed
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
- Prior HR, People Operations, or related administrative experience
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfort working with HR systems, employee data, and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on deadlines

Work Environment
Regular use of a computer and HR technology platforms is required, along with the ability to manage detailed records and sustained periods of screen-based work. The role follows a hybrid work arrangement with regular onsite presence and occasional travel among Los Angeles-area locations.
