SNV Tanzania Energy Portfolio

Our energy portfolio facilitates access to clean and efficient energy for all. Through the development of sustainable markets in solar power, and improved cooking technology, we are increasing access to affordable, reliable and sustainable technologies and services. Together with our partner Energising Development (EnDev), over the last eight years, SNV has developed and expanded a major national clean cooking program. In partnership with local entrepreneurs, utilizing market-based approaches, we support the production and dissemination of clean cookstoves throughout Tanzania and reached over 700,000 persons with access to clean cooking technology in 2023 alone.

The Tanzania Energy team employs clear monitoring and evaluation practices which lead to verifiable and auditable results documentation, to ensure the equitable and effective delivery of all performance-based supports that are provided throughout the programme. At the same time, the programme intends to orient its interventions based on a solid understanding of the context on the ground, for which market intelligence research is a critical element of the programme. To strengthen the Energy programme as it continues to geographically scale into new markets and target groups, SNV is seeking to recruit a Project Field Officer - MERV to consolidate and extend technical assistance for Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Verification throughout the Energy country programme. The Project Field Officer - MERV will form part of the EnDev project team and will be based in our Dar es Salaam office with frequent domestic travel (up to 50% time) to project implementation sites.
