Job Description
The Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the AGRI Inspector in the sites.
Also, will assist the AGRI Team ensuring that the operations observe the best quality practices in order to comply with all company quality, health, safety & environment practices at all times to ensure the best possible service is provided to the client at all times.
Responsabilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily AGRI inspection activities, including the loading and unloading of cargo on ships, trucks, railcars, and tanks.
- Monitor the packing and unpacking of containerized cargo.
- Provide technical guidance and clarification to operational personnel regarding inspection methodologies, sampling procedures, testing requirements, cargo monitoring, reporting standards, and service delivery expectations.
- Allocate inspectors, samplers, vehicles, and other resources according to operational requirements.
- Ensure the collection of cargo samples for laboratory analysis according to instructions from the client and SGS SOP’s.
- Ensure that all AGRI Inspectors, Samplers, and field personnel understand, correctly interpret, and consistently apply SGS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and client-specific requirements.
- Develop, communicate, and issue operational Work Instructions to support the effective execution of specific contracts, projects, customer requirements, and operational activities.
- Monitor the implementation of SOPs and Work Instructions in the field and take corrective action whenever deviations are identified.
- Check the technical condition of measuring instruments (scales and thermometers) prior to the measurement process, and ensure monitoring the calibration details.
- Review, consolidate and validate the field reports and prepare Inspection reports on each operation.
- Ensure timely execution of inspections, sampling, weighing, stock monitoring, warehouse surveys, loading supervision, discharge supervision, and other agricultural commodity-related services.
- Report any abnormal situations to the Coordinator/Manager
- Ensure that all standards regarding quality, hygiene, and safety at work are observed and respected during operational activities.
- Conduct pre-operation briefings, toolbox talks, coaching sessions, and on-the-job training to reinforce compliance with SGS procedures and industry best practices.
- Immediately report to the supervisor if any abnormal actions are detected that jeopardize quality, hygiene, and safety at work.
- Comply with all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Coordinator/Manager
- Coordinate and support pest control and fumigation activities where applicable, ensuring that client requirements, industry standards, and safety procedures are observed.
- Escalate pest infestation risks and recommend corrective actions to protect the integrity of stored agricultural commodities.
Other Specific Responsibilities
- Coordinate with clients, port operators, warehouses, transporters, surveyors, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations.
- Follow up on ongoing inspections and proactively resolve operational issues and bottlenecks.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and accountability of company equipment, tools, inspection instruments, and operational assets.
- Promote the image, capability, and integrity of the company to the clients.
- Ensure the best quality of Job execution.
- Manage and monitor stock levels of consumables required for AGRI operations, including sampling bags, seals, labels, stationery, PPE, sample containers, moisture-testing supplies, and other operational materials.
Qualifications
- Honor Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Logistics, Chemical or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Pest Control Management may be advantage.
Experience
- 5 years of experience in similar position
- To be familiar with Agri Commodities, hazards and safety practices.
