Job Description
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for delivering on top-line revenue, growth, and LC targets by managing new and prospective customer acquisitions, sales strategies, and securing opportunities for the NAM region across Connectivity and Products, including Wireless, Electrical/Electronics, Field Testing, Softlines, Hardlines, Paper/Packaging, Flammability, and Filtration.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Define sales strategy to incorporate direct sales models and channel partner management across Connectivity and Products, including Wireless, Electrical/Electronics, Field Testing, Softlines, Hardlines, Paper/Packaging, Flammability, and Filtration
- Develop annual sales plans to drive revenue and increase market share across all product categories
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
- Seek out and target new customers and new sales opportunities across all relevant industries
- Initiate action plans to approach and secure new business for the Company
- Provide leadership to the day‑to‑day operations of the sales department
- Maintain and develop relationships with customers to market the company’s sales programs and contracts in a manner designed to generate the highest possible return
- Seek out new accounts and revenue‑generating opportunities that support the company’s mission and create sustainable growth
- Develop and improve operational systems that increase efficiency and profitability across the sales process
- Manage sales team budgets, territories, and client lists
- Define, track, and manage sales team KPIs/Metrics, financials, activities, pipeline, and prospecting
- Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity and provide feedback to executive and leadership teams
- Manage key customer relationships to develop and secure strategic opportunities across Connectivity and Products, Softlines, Hardlines, Paper/Packaging, Flammability, and Filtration
- Create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement
- Seek out, plan, and attend industry and customer‑specific trade shows, conferences, and meetings with prospective and existing customers
- Liaise with other SGS business lines to ensure proper and effective cross‑selling
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- B.S. or B.A. in relevant area of study
- 10+ years of experience in a testing laboratory setting, preferably with Electronic/Electrical products, Softlines, Hardlines, Paper/Packaging, Flammability, or Filtration
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Must be able to think critically; problem-solving skills essential
- Knowledge of and familiarity with word processing and database software required
- Advanced language proficiency (fundamentals of grammar and syntax) required
- Solid organizational skills are required; must be able to prioritize multiple tasks
- Must be able to obtain and assess objective evidence fairly
- Excellent language and communication skills are required. Must be able to clearly communicate priorities and responsibilities daily. Must be able to convey complex ideas in easily understandable terms to both internal staff and outside auditors
- Good listening skills are essential. Must be able to elicit precise information from persons with varying professional expertise
- Solid leadership skills are essential. Must be able to lead both by example and through direct authority. Must be able to unite staff under common goals pertaining to quality. Must be able to build consensus across departments. Must be able to deliver criticism in a constructive, diplomatic manner
- Must be able to with persons from diverse backgrounds
Additional Information
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 – $161,000 annually This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
