Job Description
This position will conduct a wide variety of testing and analysis on base and precious metal ores, industrial minerals and materials.
- Receive, inspect, sort and label client samples.
- Conduct routine and experimental testing.
- Record test data and communicate test results.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment or components.
- Calibrate and set up equipment prior to analysis.
- Install and operate equipment and systems.
- Maintain a clean working environment.
- Follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
- Follow all Quality system protocols and report any discrepancies to the Supervisor.
- May be assigned or coordinate special or ad hoc projects.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A post-secondary education (degree and/or diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering etc.) is highly desirable
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting is a strong asset.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
- A desire to learn with training related to physical separation testing (i.e. solid-liquid separation), geotechnical testing, and water treatment testing.
- Time Management: The capacity to work efficiently under pressure, manage high-volume workloads.
- Organization: Ability to manage samples, testwork, and maintain clean workspaces.
- Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for long periods.
- Observation skills and attention to detail. A thorough and methodical approach to your work. The ability to record test results accurately.
- Independence & Teamwork: Capable of working alone while also collaborating well with other technicians and project managers.
- A good understanding of chemistry and working with chemicals.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
- Incumbents must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. & Outlook).
- Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both verbal and written communication.
- Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
- Must ensure full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
Additional Information
Compensation: $22.00 to $25.00 per hour / 40 hours per week.
