Job Description

This position is required to support ongoing and upcoming construction and installation activities. The QC Piping Inspector will ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards (ASME, AWS, API), and client quality requirements. This role is critical for maintaining quality control, reducing rework, preventing delays, and ensuring safe and compliant mechanical/piping installations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Piping Material & Installation Inspection
    • Inspect piping materials, welds, joints, supports, and installation activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  2. Quality Documentation & Reporting
    • Prepare and maintain detailed quality control inspection reports, test records, checklists, and associated project documentation.
  3. Cross‑Functional Coordination
    • Coordinate inspection activities with engineering, QA/QC, and construction teams to ensure timely completion and alignment with project schedules.
  4. Welding Quality Verification
    • Inspect and evaluate the quality of welds in accordance with relevant codes and standards (ASME, AWS, API).
    • Verify WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications prior to commencement of welding activities.
  5. NDT (Non‑Destructive Testing)
    • Witness or perform NDT examinations (UT, MT, PT, RT) as required by the project’s ITP/QC plan.
    • Ensure proper documentation and traceability for all NDT results.
  6. Surface Preparation & Coating Inspection
    • Inspect surface preparation to ensure compliance with cleanliness level, profile measurements, and environmental conditions.
    • Monitor coating activities including mixing, application methods, DFT (Dry Film Thickness) measurements, curing processes, and workmanship.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in piping inspection(coating/welding) within oil & gas / industrial construction
  • Water Transmission Project Experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ASME, AWS, API codes and standards
  • Certified NACE as coating inspector or AWS CWI 
  • Experience with pipe fabrication or manufacturing 
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills
