Job Description

We’re currently seeking a Sample Preparation Assistant to join our Westport team on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. This is a full‑time position working a 4 on / 4 off, 12‑hour dayshift roster.

About the Role:

In this role, you’ll support the preparation and analysis of mineral samples within our Westport laboratory. You’ll be part of a supportive and highly system‑driven environment where accuracy, safety and teamwork are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • To receive, register, prepare and analyse mineral samples in accordance with the standard operating procedures in the laboratory to ensure a high service level is maintained.
  • Day to day upkeep of equipment and general housekeeping of workstations
  • To produce a reasonable number of samples each day to ensure sufficient daily output.
  • To ensure all activities are carried out with regard and recognition of Health and Safety requirements and personal safety.

Qualifications

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings reliability, attention to detail and a strong work ethic to the team. You will also have:

  • Experience in preparation and analysis of samples is desirable but not essential
  • Ability and experience in carrying out instructions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Confidence working in a process‑driven, systemised environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience in sample preparation or laboratory work (advantageous but not essential)
