Job Description
The Laboratory Supply Chain Supervisor (Fixed Term) is responsible to lead the development and implementation of a robust inventory and supply chain system for laboratory chemicals and supplies. This role is critical in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient handling of laboratory materials while delivering strategic system improvements and operational excellence within a defined project timeline
Strategic & Supply Chain System Development
Develop and document comprehensive plans and business requirements for inventory monitoring systems, including scope, key features, data sources, and integration needs.
Identify, develop, and implement appropriate digital tools and platforms to support inventory tracking, reporting, and analytics.
Ensure effective integration of inventory systems with related business functions such as procurement, operations, finance, and compliance.
Establish and manage project roadmaps, outlining phases, timelines, and deliverables to guide system development and implementation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful execution of system-related initiatives.
Operational & Performance Outputs
Design and implement real-time inventory dashboards that provide visibility into stock levels, usage trends, and replenishment needs.
Conduct regular inventory audits and generate reports to validate data accuracy and address discrepancies.
Monitor and report on key supply chain performance indicators, such as inventory turnover, days of inventory on hand (DOH), stockout rates, on-time delivery, and waste reduction.
System Development & Implementation
Design, evaluate and document the design for a laboratory chemical inventory system, including scope, features (e.g., batch tracking, expiry alerts), and integration points.
Coordinate with IT and vendors to ensure successful system configuration and integration with procurement, finance, and laboratory systems.
Develop and manage a project roadmap with defined phases, timelines, and deliverables for system rollout.
Inventory Management & Reporting
Create and maintain a real-time inventory dashboard for laboratory chemicals and supplies.
Monitor inventory levels, usage trends, and reorder points to prevent stockouts or overstocking.
Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile physical counts with system data.
Generate and analyze reports on inventory accuracy, turnover, DOH, and stockout rates.
Track and report on chemical waste, expiry, and disposal metrics.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with local and international regulations (e.g., OSHA, DENR, FDA) for chemical storage, handling, and disposal.
Develop and enforce SOPs for chemical inventory tracking, labeling, storage, and exception handling.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with procurement to align purchasing with inventory needs and lead times.
Coordinate with laboratory staff to forecast demand and ensure timely availability of critical supplies.
Training & Change Management
Conduct training sessions for PR creators on the new inventory system and chemical handling protocols.
Develop user manuals and quick-reference guides for system users.
Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and tools.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other allied engineering fields.Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in supply chain management, preferably in laboratory, pharmaceutical, or chemical environments.
Proven experience in inventory control, procurement coordination, and system implementation for laboratory supplies and chemicals.
Training in chemical safety, hazardous materials handling, or laboratory operations is an advantage.
Additional Information
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in inventory management systems.
Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, including demand planning, procurement, and logistics.
Familiarity with chemical inventory tracking, including batch control, expiry monitoring, and MSDS documentation.
Competence in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms).
Ability to develop and implement SOPs for inventory and supply chain operations.
• Skilled in monitoring KPIs such as inventory turnover, DOH, stockout rates, and waste reduction.
Soft Skills:
Strong organizational and planning skills to manage timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers.
