Job Description
The Application Architect (AA) is a role within the corporate Information Technology (IT) team.
The AA is the technical reference within SGS for our Corp IT applications. The AA ensures the software development activities are carried out in accordance with SGS and best practice market standards. Executes the review of the application development activities and ensures that the related deliverables follow the appropriate quality, architecture and security rules and guidelines, overseeing the overall quality and fitness of the final products.
The AA is responsible for providing technical design, effort estimates, validating 3rd party estimates and overseeing the activities of the development estimation process, validating the required workload for the different phases of developments. The AA can also do developments in the applications under his/her responsibility.
With his/her technical expertise and following market best practices, the AA will ensure that the technical designs of software developments are up to market & SGS standards, whether done internally or by a third party, working closely with the enterprise architecture department at SGS.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Know in detail the reference standards & best practices defined by Enterprise Architecture and Security SGS departments, to ensure technical design quality and vulnerability compliance.
- Provide and/or validate technical design for all application development activities.
- Ensure developments meet both the technical and operational requirements (such as security, availability, maintainability, and performance), for custom developed applications as well as standard package-based solutions and legacy applications, either by developing him/herself or by overseeing vendor work.
- Coordinate with the Service Delivery Manager to define technical debt reduction plans on legacy applications and implement them.
- Improve application environments management and deployment processes.
- Support critical production incidents resolution when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s with relevant IT or Computer science background.
- Excellent understanding of Software Delivery Life Cycle, Software Architecture and development best practices.
- Relevant experience managing requirements through the entire delivery and operational life cycle.
- Able to translate complex or highly technical topics into simple concepts.
- Broad multi-technology knowledge, with focus on technologies more widely used in SGS (.Net C#, Angular, View.JS, MS Dynamics, SQLServer, Azure technologies, Java, Spring).
- At least 5 years of relevant full stack web application development using Microsoft technologies.
- Strong experience with development methodologies and tool set (Agile, DevSecOps, Lean).
- Knowledge of SAST and SCA tools.
- Focused on delivery quality and security.
- Used to work in an international environment.
- Fluent in English.
