Job Description

  • The main responsibility of this role is to manage data reporting and project deliverables including:
    • Maintains EHS tools for data presentation and delivery to clients, including all database/dashboard configurations.
    • Assists internal clients in all elements of successfully operating the monitoring systems.
    • Performs data analytics and programming of workflow automation in support the I&E and NR GBS projects

Specific Responsibilities   

  • At all times, complies with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
  • Designs, manages and supports data dashboard deliverables and associated project workflows for analyzing continuous monitoring data to strict quality and ethical standards.
  • Provides total project team responsiveness.
  • Responsible for liaising with project teams in order to have a full knowledge of project requirements, and documenting requirements accordingly
  • Carries out project work including development and creation of analytical data outputs and reports to complement and assist with wider objectives on client EHS projects.
  • Performs various data analytics functions, including building reports and dashboards using Power BI as required, including translating complex source data into meaningful visualisations.
  • Implements workflow automation projects using various tools, especially Power Automate and similar workflow automation tools.
  • Performs data modelling and database design, as well as data manipulation and transformation using Power Query, SQL and other coding languages (VBS, Python, etc.).
  • Ensures all testing methodology and quality control procedures are performed according to ISO17025 and assigned SGS lab standards where applicable.
  • Keeps I&E/NR Head of GBS, GBS Supervisor and any other key personnel informed immediately of all operational issues, including:
    • Personnel matters affecting performance,
    • Failure to meet turnaround requirements,
    • Failure to meet ISO17025, country certifications and assigned SGS lab standards where applicable,
    • Inconsistencies in quality so they may be rectified immediately,
    • Additional training requirements identified.
  • Adopts and supports specific operational improvement activities as communicated by the GBS Team Lead. These projects will focus on the improvement of quality, efficiency, accreditation, communication and technical improvement.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all required analytical procedures in the section.
  • Looks for efficiency gains in your section by being aware of new technologies and reviewing existing procedure.
  • Able to respond to technical queries.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences or in a related technical field or degree in Computer Science, Information Systems is acceptable.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in developing Power BI reports and dashboards, including translating complex source data into meaningful visualizations.
  • Experience with data modelling and database design principles, as well as data manipulation and transformation using Power Query, SQL and other coding languages (VBS, Python, etc.).
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, including researching technical solutions.
  • Previous experience in conducting testing and quality assurance to ensure the data quality, accuracy, and reliability of reports.
  • At least 2 years experience with Power Automate or similar workflow automation tools is a plus.
  • Proficient in Project management best practices, including producing requirements, creating project plans, and managing task priorities and timelines.
