ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
SGS has an opportunity for an experienced Metallurgist to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in their mineral processing department. As a Metallurgist you be will be required to research, design and conduct bench scale laboratory metallurgical test work programs to determine methods and processes for extracting various minerals from their ores.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Group Metallurgist you will be responsible for:
- Conducting research, development and providing advice in relation to extraction of metals from their ores to ensure efficiencies within the overall process
- Liaising with clients to develop and prepare test work proposals and programs.
- Establishing and monitoring project budgets and issue project invoices.
- Managing test work programs (including planning and scheduling) to: ensure technical integrity; optimize efficiency; and minimize costs.
- Managing and supervising a team of technicians.
- Communicating QHSE policies and procedures as well as productivity priorities to your team and ensure that QHSE requirements are consistently met.
- Prepare technical metallurgical reports.
- Establish, review and update methods and procedures required for test work, adhering to the company’s quality assurance requirements.
Qualifications
As the successful candidates, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry
- Previous experience working in a Metallurgical test work environment or similar role in mineral processing
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Sound computer literacy skills
