Job Description

The Role

As an Senior Analytics Engineer, you'll build reliable data models that power decision-making across SEEK's APAC products. You'll work with cutting-edge tools like Databricks and dbt to transform raw data into trusted datasets for our product analytics, experimentation, and marketing teams.

You'll work with a delivery team of data solution designers and data engineers, focusing on data quality investigations, model development, and stakeholder support. Your work will ensure data is accurate, well-documented, and actionable, empowering data scientists, product analysts, and business stakeholders to drive improvements across SEEK's products—from Job Search and Recommendations to Candidate & Hirer Engagement.

You'll lead initiatives to improve technical alignment and practices within the team, mentoring junior analytics engineers and guiding others in adopting best practices. This role is responsible for ensuring technical quality and supporting the growth of team capability, driving continuous improvement and excellence in analytics engineering.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design, develop, test, and operate data models and transformations using SQL and dbt.
  • Partner closely with product analytics and experimentation teams to create datasets that solve real business problems.
  • Investigate and resolve data issues, identifying root causes and implementing lasting fixes.
  • Document, govern, and communicate - ensuring data assets are understood, accessible, and fit for purpose.
  • Guide and mentor other analytics engineers in building, testing, and maintaining data
    models and assets.
  • Lead best practices in analytics engineering, driving improvements in team processes
    and technical quality.
  • Support team capability growth and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Take a leadership role in technical problem-solving and project delivery.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Advanced SQL skills - you're comfortable with complex queries, window functions, and CTEs.
  • Data modeling experience with dbt (or similar transformation tools).
  • Cloud data platform knowledge - Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery.
  • Git/GitHub for version control.
  • Communication skills - you can explain technical concepts clearly and work well with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset - you enjoy digging into data issues and finding solutions.
  • Experience leading analytics engineering projects, mentoring, and driving best practices.
  • Experience with descriptive statistics such as averages, ranges, and data patterns to support data quality checks and exploratory data analysis.
  • Experience with dbt macro development and maintenance.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with Python, PySpark, data warehousing, CI/CD for dbt, data governance.
  • Experience leading projects, driving adoption of best practices, and contributing to
    team capability.
