Job Description
The Director, Memory and Processing Systems is responsible for the overall execution, growth and profit of their business area, as well as providing high level direction to Program Managers working projects in the business area. This is a full-time exempt position in which the work is performed under limited supervision by the Vice President of Program Execution and is evaluated on results obtained.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support Business Development and Business Capture in achieving new business sales objectives for advancing new products for integrated processing, dynamic memory storage, non-volatile memory storage, customer furnished equipment (CFE) into SEAKR product architecture
- Successfully execute on Memory and Processing Systems Backlog and meet/exceed contractual and company financial objectives
- For the company as a whole, and especially as driven toward positioning SEAKR to execute on existing backlog establish a One Team Culture and mindset for continuous improvement
- Develop a culture for continuous improvement and cross-function unity of effort
- Identify potential for expense reduction in Memory and Processing Systems portfolio through leveraging a product mindset
- Explore capacity and productivity improvements through selective assessment of: Strategic Partnerships, Long-Term Buy Agreements with critical/strategic suppliers, productization of common/near common activities and/or other approaches. Make recommendations to the executive leadership team
- Monitor program costs and work with Program Managers to tailor their plans to minimize program costs and establish accurate EACs.
- Provide path for customer to escalate issues and resolve issues above the Program Manager.
- Monitor and work with Program Managers to develop and maintain a program risk and opportunity management plan and risk database.
- Manage priorities and resources within the business area and escalate as required.
- Support Program Execution Leadership team in:
- Strategy and New Business Development
- Exceeding Annual Operating Plan commitments
- New process development for enhanced program execution
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
- Follow SEAKR rules and regulations as documented in the SEAKR Employee Handbook and applicable operating procedures.
- Read professional journals and updates and attends seminars to keep aware of trends.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Duties:
- Plans, organizes and oversees the work of Program Managers.
- Reviews and evaluates performance, recommending salary increases and/or disciplinary action for direct reports.
- Responsible for ensuring all department personnel are properly trained to perform their assigned duties
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of all elements of aerospace business and operations- including customer relationship management, business development, proposal management, product development, lean project development and execution, back office operations, and information technology and business operations functions
- Knowledge/experience with Aerospace Prime Contractors and/or Government Program Offices
- Knowledge/experience with full life cycle of product development. Subsystem and system level experience is a plus.
- Knowledge/experience with corporate command media as performing in a matrixed business structure
- Knowledge of a variety of software systems including Word, E-mail, Excel, Microsoft Project
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with company policies and practices.
- Ability to effectively analyze situations and recommend improvements.
- Ability to work independently in the identification and coordination of multiple projects.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks as well as multi-task.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish good rapport with members of management and support organizations.
- Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to proofread a variety of documents and to pay attention to detail.
- Ability to travel 10% or more.
- Ability to put in overtime as needed.
- Ability to operate the equipment listed below.
Education or Formal Training
- Bachelors degree in Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
Experience
- 15+ years of experience in Aerospace Industry with Space Products to include flight HW and Ground Systems
- 5+ years of experience working in a small business
Additional Information
Compensation: Base pay range is $185,000-235,000 depending on qualifications. SEAKR has very rich medical, dental and vision insurance plans, along with a generous 401(k) retirement plan. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for a year-end bonus. SEAKR offers a variety of paid leave, such as vacation, sick, bereavement, and FMLA.
