Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and maintain all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives at our Lansing, Michigan facility. The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring OSHA compliance, promoting a strong safety culture, reducing workplace risks, and supporting day-to-day safety operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or construction environments, possess an OSHA 30 certification, and demonstrate strong leadership in implementing safety programs and regulatory compliance. Safety managers are commonly expected to oversee inspections, investigations, corrective actions, and employee training while ensuring compliance with OSHA/MIOSHA requirements.

        Job Description

         

        • Develop, implement, and maintain company safety policies and procedures.
        • Ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, and all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
        • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and workplace hazard assessments.
        • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
        • Lead employee safety orientation, OSHA training, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety education.
        • Maintain OSHA logs, incident reports, and regulatory documentation.
        • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), risk assessments, and safety observations.
        • Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
        • Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce all safety policies.
        • Coordinate emergency response procedures, evacuation drills, and first aid readiness.
        • Partner with Operations, HR, Maintenance, and Engineering to improve workplace safety and reduce operational risk.
        • Track and report safety KPIs, including incident rates, corrective actions, and audit findings.
        • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the organization's safety culture.

        Qualifications

         

        • OSHA 30 Certification (Required)
        • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
        • 3+ years of Safety, EHS, or HSE experience in manufacturing, automotive, logistics, warehouse, or construction environments.
        • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
        • Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
        • Knowledge of:

          • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
          • Fall Protection
          • Hazard Communication
          • PPE Compliance
          • Emergency Response
        • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
        • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
