Your role will support business engagement with regulators, including responding to regulator queries, provision of regulatory reporting, preparations for regulatory meetings and prudential reviews, maintaining positive relations through regular engagement and communicating regulator priorities and activities to the business.  

  • Support the Head of Regulatory engagement as the primary point of contact between Rest and regulators
  • Arrange attendance for relevant Rest stakeholders for meetings with regulators, attend and minute those meetings and send actions to Rest owners
  • Support and oversight business adherence to the Regulatory Engagement Standard and Regulatory Engagement Guide
  • Co-ordination and review of responses to regulatory engagements (e.g., Notices, APRA/ASIC Reviews, correspondence, requests for information and queries etc), record engagements in Rest’s risk and compliance system and monitor progress and completion of these items, ensuring they are provided on time and are of a high quality
  • Support the business in the preparation of materials supporting APRA and ASIC reviews
  • Assist Head of Regulatory Engagement in running dry run sessions with Rest attendees for Prudential Reviews
  • Monitor regulator activity and provide reporting and insights, including expected areas of future regulatory focus to Board, Chiefs and other senior management on a regular basis
  • Review regulator business plans and work with the Business to ensure they are prepared to respond to these areas of focus and with second line risk team to ensure high priority areas of regulator focus are included in Line 2 assurance reviews

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, law, economics or business, or equivalent professional experience and industry qualifications.
  • Membership of professional bodies such as ASFA and the Risk Management Institute of Australia (RMIA) or the Australian Compliance Institute.
  • Demonstrated experience in a regulatory or compliance related role in financial services, including at a superannuation related role.
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements applicable to super trustees including areas such as the SIS Act & Regulations, Corporations Act & Regulations, APRA’s Prudential Standards, the Privacy Act and the AML/CTF Act.
  • Sound understanding of frameworks designed to mitigate compliance risks
  • Experience in incident management within a financial services environment
  • Experience working with regulatory frontline supervision teams and other government agencies
  • Experience in managing regulator queries, reporting and governance administration
  • Experience working with Executive and Senior Leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an environment requiring attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Advanced written communication skills, including experience in writing submissions for Boards and Committees as well as developing and maintaining corporate policies
