Job Description
We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Networking Engineer to join our IT team and play an important role to design, build, operate secure, scalable, and highly available global AWS network infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience with AWS networking services, strong traditional networking fundamentals, and the ability to collaborate effectively with security, DevOps, developers, and engineering teams.
Duties and responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS networking architectures, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, Transit Gateway, NAT Gateway, Internet Gateway, VPC endpoints, security groups, and network ACLs.
- Configure and support network services such as VPC peering, Transit Gateways, elastic load balancing, hybrid connectivity such as Direct Connect, and site-to-site VPN.
- Develop secure and scalable network infrastructure for multi-account and multi-region AWS environments, aligned with business, security, and operational requirements.
- Configure and support AWS WAF and third-party firewalls.
- Collaborate with DevOps, security and development teams on network related issues.
- Automate cloud network provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security using AWS CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, CloudTrail, SIEM platforms, and other monitoring or observability tools.
- Troubleshoot complex connectivity, routing, DNS, latency, packet loss, firewall, and performance issues; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Create and maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, standards, runbooks, and standard operational procedures.
- Stay current with AWS networking services, cloud security practices, automation methods, and industry best practices, and recommend improvements where appropriate.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information technology or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing and supporting AWS cloud networking solutions
- AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty is desirable
- Hands-on experience with AWS networking services, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPNs, Route 53, Elastic Load Balancing, route tables, VPC endpoints, security groups, and network ACLs.
- Strong knowledge of core networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, subnetting, NAT, VPN, BGP, and OSPF.
- Deep understanding of network security concepts, including network segmentation, firewalls, WAF, access control, encryption in transit, traffic inspection, and secure hybrid connectivity.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools, preferably Terraform, with the ability to create reusable, maintainable, and version-controlled network configurations.
- Experience with network monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting tools such as AWS CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, CloudTrail, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to debug complex network issues in a timely manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Strong ownership mindset, positive attitude, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
