Job Description
Summary
The Director of Human Resources drives all HR initiatives at The Little Nell Hotel such as wage and salary administration, employee health and safety, benefit programs, employee relations and training programs and talent acquisition strategy to ensure compliance for hotel team members. The HR Director promotes a positive team culture while ensuring colleagues deliver incredible guest experiences and bring the brand to life. Serves as a coach to the leadership team on all people-related issues.
Essential Job Functions
• Responsible for Human Resources strategy and implementation; translates business priorities into property Human Resources strategies, plans and actions
• Direct human resources programs, including onboarding, compensation, health and wellness benefits, training and development, records management, employee visa program, workplace safety and wellness, succession planning, employee relations, recognition and retention, Affirmative Action and Equal Employment opportunity compliance, and labor relations
• Directs human resources operational strategies by analyzing trends; preparing critical measurements; implementing production
• Manage and develop the hotel HR team to include HR Coordinator, HR Manager and Training Manager
• Oversee all Human Resource Management Systems and lead system improvements to ensure data is entered and maintained accurately and in a timely manner
• Implements human resources strategies, policies and procedures; including coaching, counseling, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, monitoring, oversees the performance review process, and annual merit review
• Establishes human resources objectives in line with organization goals and make recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on HR matters
• Maintains knowledge of industry trends and takes responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all HR matters, including recordkeeping and retention
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
• Improves human resources management job knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
• Work with Director of Talent Acquisition to source and screen executive level positions and develop overall recruiting strategy and manage visa worker programs to meet the seasonal staffing needs of the operation and government regulation compliance
• Assist Training Manager to develop a strong plan for training based on the needs of the property and ensure proper implementation on all levels
• Foster a culture of trust, respect and collaboration by providing timely and accurate communication and follow-up
• Ensures administration of all team member benefit programs including medical and life insurance, workers' compensation and paid time off programs
• Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's wage and salary program
• Plan and manage HR budget, forecast and expenses. Responsible for meeting monthly and annual financial targets
• Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all team member records and prepare timely and meaningful reports for management's use as necessary
• Work with VP of Human Resources to create and implement total compensation packages/offers for executive level positions
• All other duties as assigned
The budgeted salary range for this position is $130,000-$145,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all of our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.
Qualifications
• College degree in Business Administration or Human Resource Management
• PHR or SPHR preferred
• Minimum of 5 years Human Resources Director/HR management experience
• Previous hospitality experience preferably in a Luxury Hotel/Resort
• HRIS experience, Timekeeping Software Experience (Kronos preferred), Talent Management Software experience (Smart Recruiters preferred)
• Strong understanding of labor and employment law
• Must possess a high degree of integrity, professionalism and the ability to establish credibility across all levels of the property
• Ability to build consensus and facilitate commitment to an agreed upon decision
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills
• Ability to work well with a team as well as work individually without constant supervision
• Proficient in the English language (written and verbal), second language is an asset, Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred
• Will work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working with a multi-cultural team
• HRIS experience, Timekeeping Software Experience (Kronos preferred), Talent Management Software experience (Smart Recruiters preferred)
• Knowledge of: Talent Acquisition / Talent Development / Talent Management processes in the following areas: Recruiting, Leadership Competencies, Talent Assessments, Succession Management, Performance Management, Workforce Analytics, Safety and Risk Management processes and analytics
• Pertinent federal, state, local laws, codes, and regulations including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, ADEA, EEO

Supervision Given and Received
Given: Exercises general supervision over The Little Nell Human Resources Department. Assigns a variety of routine tasks, sets general expectations of results expected within company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Received: Works under general supervision of the Hotel General Manager and Aspen Hospitality Vice President of Human Resources. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor’s directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins.

• Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements
• No adverse or hazardous conditions
• Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance
