About the Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to join the opening bar team at one of Melbourne's most anticipated hospitality venues, Lately. 

Situated in Refinery Groups' flagship venue - The Angel of Malvern, Lately is an intimate cocktail club and late-night lounge crafted for unforgettable nights - blending curated drinks, elevated bar snacks and a distinctive, atmospheric experience. 

As a Bar Supervisor, you'll play a key leadership role on the floor and behind the bar, helping to set the tone for service, quality and team culture. Working closely with venue leadership, you'll oversee daily bar operations, support the development of the drinks offering and ensure every guest experience reflects Lately's speakeasy-style identity. 

Your leadership, expertise and calm presence will help shape memorable late-night experiences centred around cocktails, music and connection. 

What You’ll Do

As a Bar Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for delivering exceptional service while leading and supporting the bar team by:

  • Leading service and supervising bar operations to ensure consistency and high standards
  • Mentoring team members and maintaining a calm, efficient service flow
  • Delivering warm, engaging and professional service at the bar
  • Preparing and serving cocktails, spirits, wine and beer to a high standard
  • Confidently recommending drinks and guiding guests through the beverage offering
  • Managing bar setup, stock levels and clean-down procedures
  • Ensuring all RSA and venue safety standards are upheld at all times
  • Handling payments accurately, including cash and EFTPOS transactions
  • Supporting floor service and functions when required
  • Maintaining exceptional presentation, cleanliness and organisation behind the bar
  • Working closely with the wider FOH and BOH teams to deliver seamless service
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive and professional team culture

About You

You're a confident and experienced hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced, late-night environment. You take pride in both your craft and your ability to lead others, creating a supportive and high-performing team.

  • Previous experience as a senior bartender, bar supervisor or similar role (essential)
  • Strong product knowledge in cocktails, spirits, wine and beer
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail and pride in presentation and consistency
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification (essential)
  • A team-first mindset and willingness to learn and grow
  • Flexible availability to work nights and weekends
