The targeted hiring range for this full-time position is $95,900 - $129,400 depending on qualifications; however, the expanded salary range provides opportunities for advancement. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and job location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, competencies, experience, and relevant education, training or a combination of these things and market demand. Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Supervise the raw material planning requirements of the shoe and leather manufacturing facilities to ensure the Red Wing Shoe business and customer requirements are met. Supervise the purchasing of raw materials and manufacturing supplies while maintaining appropriate inventory levels to meet business demand and Company objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the raw materials purchasing and sourcing processes for manufacturing operations (shoe manufacturing and leather manufacturing).
- Work closely with Brand leadership, Demand Planning partners and other business partners as needed to analyze past and future business demands, assess capabilities, develop strategies and implement actions to achieve business imperatives.
- Work with Scheduling and Demand Planning teams to analyze and update materials forecast information leveraging all available systems and resources.
- Maximize utilization of manufacturing capacity planning tools including M3 (ERP) and other Company planning tools for all domestic manufacturing facilities and maximize material efficiency.
- Track and analyze physical inventory data (safety stock) and variances, develop/recommend action plans and engage appropriate stakeholders to prevent and/or remediate issues.
- Provide leadership for inventory management activities including but not limited to cycle counts and physical inventory counts.
- Implement Lean Material Flow
- Develop and manage supply base (mostly domestic but includes some international) to support raw materials used to produce components through new product development and production phases.
- Work directly with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support existing platforms and new product development.
- Monitor global industry trends and work cross-functionally with the design and product development teams to identify/mitigate supply and demand challenges.
- Partner with internal resources to drive cost savings opportunities (managing the process in the productivity funnel) and price changes/cost avoidance (manage in the Sourcing Inflationary Tracker).
- Visit supplier facilities and accurately assess operational capability, financial health, and capacity to award contracts in support of new product development and long-term production.
- Conduct comprehensive supplier analysis, assess strategic direction, capacity, market and industry position, and risk assessment.
- Manage costs to ensure alignment with company’s overall goals.
- Present value proposition, including those related to contract award, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies and critical supply issues.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (include certification if applicable):
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and seven to ten years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: (8-10 bullet points)
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop purchasing team members to achieve business goals and career development/advancement objectives.
- Continuous learning and development of personal technical/functional and leadership capabilities.
- Effective communication, collaboration and engagement of appropriate cross-functional stakeholders.
- Participate and provide leadership as needed to develop, implement and continuously improve the SOP process for domestic manufacturing including systems utilization (e.g., M3 Microsoft Office).
- Participate in cross-functional process improvement teams with mapping, root cause identification and transformation.
- Maintain quality service by establishing, following, and enforcing organizational quality system standards.
