Job Description

Ramsay Health Care is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Coder to join our team. We are committed to "People caring for people" and are looking for a professional who shares our values and dedication to quality healthcare.

As a Clinical Coder, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our patient data.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing accurate and timely abstracting and disease procedure coding for each patient discharged by the hospital. You will ensure adherence to the relevant Australian Coding Standards and applicable State Coding Advice.
  • Supporting the relevant Manager by ensuring data is collected, collated, and managed in line with hospital and legislative requirements.
  • Participating in and supporting the relevant Manager with quality activities. This includes internal and external clinical coding audits, and mentoring Trainee and Qualified Clinical Coders.

About You:

Essential Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) Clinical Coding Course; Associate Diploma or Bachelor of Applied Science, Medical Record Administration or Health Information Management; or similar relevant tertiary qualification

Other:

  • Eligible for membership with the HIMAA.
  • Demonstrated current high level experience in Clinical Coding including a minimum of 3 years fulltime equivalent hours (FTE) coding experience (post training) coding a similar casemix to that of the recruiting facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to code autonomously and competently across a full range of clinical specialties.
  • Understanding of the relationship between clinical coding, Casemix, DRG classifications systems and funding models.
  • Demonstrated interest in clinical coding, highly developed ability to self-manage and a positive "can-do" attitude.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently as required.
  • Commitment to professional development through quality activities, constructive feedback and mentoring.
  • Sound computer literacy and skills within the Microsoft Office Suite

Desirable

  • Experience with patient administration software relevant to hospital (e.g.

Meditech).

  • Completion of La Trobe University Clinical Coding Auditing course.
  • Previous Private Hospital experience.
  • Previous experience with a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Program.

Remuneration: Salary commensurate with experience.
