As our new Junior/Mid-Level Environmental Consultant, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team composed of geologists, environmental and civil engineers, environmental scientists, chemists and other specialists.
The team works within an international network on a wide range of projects concerning contaminated site management, site investigation and remediation, environmental monitoring, groundwater management, water treatment, permitting, due diligence and environmental compliance.
You will be involved in both office and field activities and will progressively take responsibility for the technical and operational coordination of project tasks.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Planning and supporting environmental site investigations and remediation activities;
- Preparing sampling plans, field programmes, technical specifications and operational instructions;
- Conducting and supervising soil, groundwater, surface water, soil gas and other environmental sampling activities;
- Supervising drilling, monitoring well installation, excavation, waste management and remediation works;
- Planning, coordinating and monitoring field and office-based project activities, ensuring compliance with agreed scope, schedule and quality requirements;
- Coordinating contractors, laboratories and specialist suppliers, including the preparation of work requests, verification of technical deliverables and monitoring of activity progress;
- Checking field documentation, analytical results and data quality;
- Managing and processing environmental data using databases, spreadsheets and GIS tools;
- Comparing analytical results with applicable regulatory criteria and site-specific remediation objectives;
- Developing and updating geological, hydrogeological and environmental conceptual site models;
- Supporting the evaluation of contaminant distribution, migration pathways and potential receptors;
- Contributing to the design and monitoring of remediation and emergency response measures;
- Preparing technical reports, monitoring reports, remediation documents and correspondence with clients and public authorities;
- Supporting meetings, site inspections and technical discussions with clients, contractors and regulatory authorities;
- Contributing to proposals, cost estimates, project planning and budget monitoring;
- Coordinating specific project tasks in accordance with agreed scope, programme, budget and quality requirements;
- Supporting and mentoring interns and less experienced team members;
- Ensuring that field activities are performed in accordance with applicable health, safety and environmental requirements.

For this role, we believe your starting point is:
- A Master’s degree in geology, earth sciences, environmental engineering, environmental sciences or a similar discipline;
- Approximately two to five years of relevant professional experience in environmental consultancy;
- Practical experience in contaminated site investigation, environmental monitoring or remediation projects;
- Experience in soil and groundwater sampling and in the supervision of environmental field activities;
- Good knowledge of geological and hydrogeological principles and contaminant behaviour in soil and groundwater;
- Ability to interpret environmental and laboratory data and develop conceptual site models;
- Knowledge of Italian contaminated site legislation and procedures, particularly Part IV, Title V of Legislative Decree 152/2006;
- Experience in preparing clear, concise and technically robust reports in Italian;
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word;
- Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS or similar GIS software would be an advantage;
- Experience with environmental databases, risk assessment software or groundwater modelling tools would be an advantage;
- Willingness to undertake field assignments and travel to project sites;
- A valid driving licence.
