You will join our Rome Office
As our new Environmental Consulting Intern, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team composed of
geologists, environmental and civil engineers, environmental scientists, chemists and other specialists.
The team works within an international network on a wide range of projects, mainly concerning
contaminated site assessment and remediation, soil and groundwater investigations, environmental
monitoring, permitting, due diligence, water treatment and environmental compliance.
You will work alongside experienced consultants and gradually become involved in both office-based and
field activities.


Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting environmental site investigations and remediation projects;
  • Assisting with soil, groundwater, surface water, soil gas and other environmental sampling
  • activities;
  • Supporting field supervision during drilling, well installation, excavation, remediation and monitoring activities;
  • Supporting the day-to-day coordination of contractors, laboratories and specialist suppliers involved in project activities;
  • Assisting with the planning, scheduling and progress tracking of field and office-based activities;
  • Preparing sampling documentation, field records, chain-of-custody forms and photographic reports;
  • Organising, checking and processing environmental and analytical data;
  • Supporting the preparation and updating of databases, tables, charts, maps and graphical outputs;
  • Contributing to the development of conceptual site models;
  • Supporting the assessment of laboratory results against applicable regulatory criteria;
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical reports, monitoring reports and project documentation in Italian and English;
  • Supporting the preparation of technical proposals and cost estimates;
  • Working in accordance with Ramboll’s health, safety and environmental procedures.

For this internship, we believe your starting point is:

  • Currently completing, or having recently completed, a Master’s degree in geology, earth sciences, environmental engineering, environmental sciences or a similar discipline;
  • Interest in contaminated sites, environmental investigations, remediation and groundwater management;
  • Basic knowledge of hydrogeology, soil and groundwater sampling techniques and environmental data interpretation;
  • Basic knowledge of Italian environmental legislation, particularly Part IV, Title V of Legislative Decree 152/2006, would be an advantage;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of GIS software, such as ArcGIS or QGIS, would be an advantage;
  • Ability to produce clear and structured written documents in Italian;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English;
  • Willingness to participate in field activities and travel to project sites;
  • A valid driving licence would be an advantage.
