Job Description

Role Overview

The Electrical Design Engineer will support the design and development of electrical systems for Data Center projects, working under the guidance of senior engineers.
This role focuses on Deep understanding, engineering calculations, drawings, coordination, and documentation, with exposure to the full lifecycle of data center projects. In case you have no prior Data Center experience, you have good to great electrical system design experience from LoD200 to LoD400 in areas mentioned in the description, you can apply too.

Experience
5 to 10 years in Electrical Design with work in Data Center for at least 2 years.


Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering Support

• Own complete design of Data Center Electrical Systems from Concept design to detailed design up to IFC, including preparing RFP, Technical specs of each and every component:

  • MV / LV distribution systems – from substation to Data Hall
  • UPS systems, DG systems, and electrical rooms
  • Data Hall Power distributions

• Prepare:

  • Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) – with intrinsic details for IT Load, Mechanical
  • Load, House power as per TIA-942 specs and client requirements.
  • Electrical layouts (From substations to MV to LV, UPS rooms, cable routing)

• Perform:

  • Load calculations
  • Cable sizing and basic voltage drop calculations
  •  PUE Calculations / PUE audit.

2. Drawings & BIM Coordination


• Prepare AutoCAD drawings and assist in Revit models
• Coordinate with:
o Mechanical, Architectural, Structural teams
o Design of Power distribution for the Data Center IT Load, Mechanical
   Equipment and overall building house loads.
• Participate in:
o Clash detection and design coordination

 
3. Documentation Support

 

  • Take ownership in preparation of:
  • BOQs
  •  Cable schedules
  •  Equipment schedules
  •  Technical specifications
  •  Sequence of Operations
  •  Earthing points and Earthing pits
  •  Response to Technical RFI – from vendors during RFP support.
  •  Maintain drawing revisions and documentation quality
  •  Quality check and Quality assurance of the other team members work.


4. Project Delivery Support

  • Engage with client in technical discussions, take inputs, explain design, debate & discuss the optimum and acceptable solutions.
  • Implement design inputs from senior engineers
  • Address review comments and revised designs
  • Support vendor drawing reviews and submittals

 

5. Construction & Commissioning Exposure

  • Support: Site queries (RFIs)
  • Installation clarifications
  • Gain exposure to:o Testing & commissioning processes Electrical system validation
  • Technical Fundamentals
  •  Excellent Fundaments & detailed understanding of:
  • Electrical distribution systems
  •  SLDs and layouts
  •  BESS, UPS and DG systems
  •  Knowledge of: Cable sizing and electrical fundamentals


Software Skills

  • AutoCAD (mandatory) – must posses demonstrable capabilities.
  • Basic knowledge of Revit (preferred)
  • Communication & Attitude
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Ability to clearly explain design work to senior engineers
  • Willingness to learn and grow in data center domain

Qualifications

  •  BE / BTech / Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Good to Have
  •  Exposure to data center / mission-critical projects
  •  Familiarity with:
  •  ETAP (basic level)
  • Industry standards (IEC / IS / TIA-942)
