    Job Description

    Structural Engineer

    High-Rise & Complex Buildings  |  Penang, Malaysia

What if the structures you analyse and design became the skeleton of a city’s skyline?

As Structural Engineer within our High-Rise & Complex Buildings team, you will take ownership of structural design across a portfolio of complex building projects, applying your knowledge of modelling software and structural analysis to deliver high-quality, buildable solutions. You will work across the full design lifecycle, from concept through to authority submission and construction, collaborating closely with project directors, other disciplines and clients to make ambitious buildings a reality.

High-rise buildings, done well, are one of the most powerful tools we have for building sustainable, liveable cities. With more than 300 tall building projects globally, our High-rise & Complex Buildings team integrates structural, MEP, facade, digital and sustainability expertise from concept to completion, because the relationship between a building’s structure and its services is where real value is won or lost. Data-driven, computationally advanced, and benchmarked against decades of global experience, we design with purpose for the people and cities that need these buildings to perform for generations. If you want work that genuinely challenges you, this is where you come.

    The role

As Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the production of structural engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and reports across a portfolio of high-rise and complex building projects. You will manage your own workload, delegate to supporting staff, liaise with project consultants and external bodies, and keep project directors and associates informed of progress throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a role for someone who brings both technical rigour and professional ownership to every project, and who is motivated by seeing complex structures safely and elegantly realised.

    • Produce structural engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and presentations using relevant computer-aided software, including ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE and Revit

    • Call for and attend project review sessions
    • Organise production and issue of Ramboll’s drawings in line with the agreed project programme

    Reporting and closure

    • Prepare relevant reports and specifications in line with the agreed project programme
    • Keep Project Director and Project Associate informed of project progress
    • Supervise closure of the project on receipt of TOP, CSC and final payment
    • Render assistance and undertake ad-hoc tasks as required

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in structural design
    • Experience in a consultancy firm is preferred
    • Good knowledge of structural modelling software including ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE and Revit
