Your new role
As our new Technical Safety Engineer, you will work with a large variety of interesting and challenging projects and tasks, both within new design projects as well as permitting for new and existing facilities contributing to safe and innovative high quality design solutions in the green energy transition. As our new Technical Safety Engineer, you will be part of an extraordinary technical environment with around 30 passionate colleagues in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Spain supported by our global engineering centre in India. The Process and Safety department consists of four teams collaborating closely together (2 Process and 2 Safety). The department is a mix of younger and more experienced colleagues and delivers engineering and consultancy services globally within the energy sector for projects around the world. The primary focus of our services is Hydrogen, PtX, CCUS, Gas infrastructure, Decarbonisation of energy intensive industries. We cover all aspects of a project including concept and feasibility studies, detailed engineering, EPC and follow-on engineering as well as permitting processes. In addition, you will collaborate with a wider technical community of Safety engineers globally in delivering projects that involve multiple clients in countries across Europe and globally, within Solutions For Industry.
Our core competences are HSE management, risk assessment (qualitative and quantitative), risk identification workshops (HAZID, HAZOP and Design Review), safety reports and documentation for authority approval and Process Functional Safety.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Perform, lead and coordinate work for preparation of Risk assessments and Quantitative Risk Analyses (QRA) and fire- and explosion risk assessments (FERA) for onshore facilities using QRA software (PHAST/SAFETI or TNO Effects)
- Preparation of Risk assessments and Quantitative Risk Analyses (QRA) for onshore and offshore pipelines and cables, as well as offshore facilities
- Developing mathematical models as required to adapt to the requirements of the safety assessments
- Preparation of Safety reports as well as other related input to permitting processes with the authorities
- Prepare safety documentation during engineering of projects (process safety and technical safety), e.g. fire and safety philosophies and analysis reports
- Participating in safety/risk workshops where you will be responsible for workshop preparation and for documenting findings and actions. This includes both HAZID and HAZOP workshops
About you
- M.Sc. or B. Sc. Degree in Engineering or Natural Science Education (Chemical, Physics, or Mathematics)
- Minimum 3 years of experience with performing risk assessments/risk modelling, consequence analysis and quantitative risk analyses and other engineering tasks from Energy sector, Pharmaceutical or Chemical industry
- Basic knowledge of national/Scandinavian safety requirements (e.g. related to Seveso directive) and applicable safety standards and best practices.
- Have a good understanding of mathematical modelling of physical phenomena (e.g. fire and explosion scenarios) and frequency modelling (e.g. event-tree analysis)
- Experience with performing, leading and coordinating work for quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and fire- and explosions risk assessments (FERA)
- Experience with relevant QRA software (e.g. DNV PHAST/SAFETI, Shell FRED, or Gexcon Effects/Risk Curves)
- Knowledge of Danish or other Scandinavian language is preferable
- Excellent English skills since this is our corporate language
- Programming skills is an advantage
- Knowledge of modelling using commercial CFD-software (FLACS/InFlux) in context of quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and fire- and explosions risk assessments (FERA) would be an advantage
