Job Description

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to contribute to the ongoing development of RWWA’s data framework, through critical thinking and data engineering best practices to ensure sustained technical excellence, whilst actively participating in agile delivery team activities.

Some of the key accountabilities include: 

  • Undertake data engineering development activities across a range of business services and applications.
  • Working with key business stakeholders and Business Analysts to understand, document and deliver data engineering outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver continuous improvement initiatives to ensure data engineering work is at highest quality.
  • Implement advanced data structures and data models to surface data to users across multiple data streams and systems
  • Select techniques based on breadth of knowledge of the strengths, weaknesses and expected performance of different approaches whilst maintaining cost efficient implementations
  • Establish good practice in the development, evaluation, monitoring and deployment of all ETL pipelines as well as have an advanced understanding of all of RWWA’s key data systems
  • Analyse and report findings and remediate simple issues using algorithms implemented in standard software frameworks and tools
  • High level understanding of data governance principles and guidelines and correct methodologies for ensuring RWWA’s data across all systems is maintained in accordance with best practices for data governance

Qualifications

About You

  • Advanced analytical skills that allow for the development of data structures and data models.
  • Advanced understanding of a variety of data tools, including AWS, Snowflake, dbt, SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Ability to work as a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively to solve complex problems. 
  • Knowledge of foundational best practice data modelling, implementation and support methodologies and patterns. 
  • Demonstrated willingness to design/develop in collaboration with fellow team members. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and activities. 
  • Contribute to an open and collaborative environment with fellow team members. 
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication abilities and can communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
