Job Description
The Role
We are currently seeking applications for a fulltime Cadet Steward - Greyhounds.
In this role you will learn all aspects of racing administration / stewardship, through questioning, observing and participating in racing activities. As a Cadet Steward you will maintain and uphold the integrity of greyhound racing in Western Australia to enforce the industry’s standards as empowered by the Rules of Racing
A day on the job will include:
- Support Stewards with race meetings in accordance with rules and policies
- Learning all aspects and procedures in starting, lure driving and judging
- Carry out administration duties as directed by the Chief Steward
- Respond to telephone inquiries.
- Prepare for race meetings including, checking race form, brands and markings, assembling and transporting all equipment associated with race meeting
- Assist with dispatching urine and blood samples
- Attend courses as designated and attend other code meetings when requested
Qualifications
About You
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of greyhounds would be an advantage
- Knowledge and understanding of greyhound racing industry would be an advantage
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound computer literacy skills – Microsoft Office / Windows environment
- Current Senior First Aid certificate would be an advantage
- Current ‘C’ class drivers’ licence
