Job Description

About the Role 

We are looking for an experienced Judge / Photo Finish Operator to join our team for Harness race meetings and trials in WA. The role involves setting up photo finish equipment, analyzing digital photos, and accurately determining results. Additionally, you will be responsible for recording times and margins into computer systems promptly. If you have the expertise for this critical role, we want to hear from you!

Duties will include:

  • Check the colours and saddlecloth numbers of each runner in each race to ensure all horses are correctly identified and to help ensure accuracy in determining the result
  • Record all horses crossing the finishing line in placing order in each race.  This must be undertaken by naked eye in case of a photo finish technical failure
  • In the case of a close finish interpret the digital photo finish image(s) to promptly determine the correct placing of each horse
  • Justify the decision of the outcome of races as necessary to Stewards, Trainers and Owners of Harness horse
  • Set up and operate photo finish equipment correctly and accurately.
  • Operate photo finish software. 

Qualifications

About You

  • Extensive experience in a similar type role involving judging
  • Knowledge of Rules of Racing would be desirable 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the racing and wagering industry
  • Well-developed communication, negotiating and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise and control workflow of tasks in a short timeframe
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Strong computer literacy skills
  • Completion of Year 11
